Barcelona has put forward an offer to loan Marcus Rashford for next season via intermediaries, with the offer including a buyout clause.
Manchester United has agreed to the idea, and though not yet finalized, negotiations between all parties have entered the final stage Barcelona has been looking for an attacker capable of operating freely on the wings and in the forward line, and Rashford is a highly appealing option. The club has prioritized the left wing as a key area since facing a shortage of personnel in that position at the end of last season.
Head coach Hansi Flick has held talks with the 27-year-old English international and agreed to his potential arrival.
Temporarily loaning Rashford will also help Barcelona deal with its ongoing challenging financial situation.
Rashford was loaned from Manchester United to Aston Villa in the January transfer window, staying with the club for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. He made 17 appearances for Unai Emery’s side, scoring 4 goals.
His season was cut short due to a hamstring injury in April. He missed the final four games of the season and was also excluded from Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for matches against Andorra and Senegal.
Rashford is among Manchester United’s highest-paid players, with a weekly salary exceeding £325,000. During his loan spell, Aston Villa covered three-quarters of his wages, excluding performance-related bonuses.
