Two Saudi Giants Eye Antony, Betis Talks Fade

Antony’s future is taking a new turn—two unnamed Saudi Arabian giants have recently expressed interest in the Manchester United winger, while the previously rumored move to Real Betis has become increasingly unlikely, with the Brazilian star’s next destination more likely to be the Middle Eastern league.
Over the past few weeks, Spanish media had hyped Betis’ interest in signing Antony, but the two sides never entered substantive negotiations. United value the 23-year-old winger at around €60 million, a figure that Betis’ budget struggles to match. Additionally, the Spanish club prefers a loan deal over a permanent transfer, leaving the move in a stalemate.
The turning point came with the sudden involvement of the Saudi Pro League. Sources close to United revealed that two Saudi giants have expressed their intention to make an offer through intermediaries, and are not opposed to meeting United’s transfer fee demands. For Antony, the allure of a lucrative salary in the Middle East (reportedly up to €20 million per year) is significant. Especially after a last season with just 5 goals and 3 assists for United, where his starting spot became uncertain, a change of scenery could reignite his career.

United are open to the idea: despite Antony being a key signing during Erik ten Hag’s tenure (joining for €95 million in 2022), the club needs to raise funds this summer to support new signings. If the Saudi offer meets their valuation, a departure cannot be ruled out. Betis, meanwhile, has quietly shifted their focus to other wingers, effectively ending rumors of a deal.
Will he head to the Middle East for a massive payday, or stay in Europe for a new challenge? The scales of Antony’s transfer are gradually tipping toward the Saudi Pro League.
