Kylian Mbappé will wear Real Madrid’s No.10 shirt next season, a number previously worn by Luka Modrić, who has since transferred to AC Milan. Mbappé, who previously wore the No.9 shirt at Real Madrid, will now change his number to the No.10 he uses for the France national team.
The club’s top scorer last season (with 44 goals in total) did not take the initiative to request the number change, but Real Madrid had considered handing over this legendary number to him as early as his arrival last summer, and has now officially made the decision.
This undoubtedly delights Mbappé himself, and Real Madrid is also pleased with the move – after previously selling hundreds of thousands of jerseys bearing Mbappé’s No.9, the No.10 jersey is expected to spark another sales boom and set a new record.
Since Real Madrid’s elimination from the Club World Cup, Mbappé has been on vacation and was spotted in Puerto Rico with close friend Achraf Hakimi in recent days. He will return to Real Madrid for training on August 4, with the club set to play their first official match of the new season against Osasuna on August 19.
